Current and Recent Teaching

The teaching below is listed in reverse chronological order.

2016-17

As in 2012-13 and 2013-14, I am teaching G11FPM Foundations of Pure Mathematics in Autumn, and G14FTA Further Topics in Analysis in Spring. See below for some module-related links. See also http://wp.me/posHB-AC for links to the G11FPM Echo360 video archives from the autumns of 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

As in 2012-13 and 2013-14, I taught G11FPM Foundations of Pure Mathematics in Autumn, and I taught G14FTA Further Topics in Analysis in Spring. See below for some module-related links. In addition, I also taught G12MAN Mathematical Analysis this year.

2014-15

As in 2012-13 and 2013-14, I taught G11FPM Foundations of Pure Mathematics in Autumn, and I taught G14FTA Further Topics in Analysis in Spring. See below for some module-related links.

This year I changed the voting system in G11FPM from coloured card voting to a mobile device voting system using Google forms. Videos of the G11FPM classes are now available on YouTube and on iTunes U (thanks Sally!) and will also be made available on UNoW in due course (http://unow.nottingham.ac.uk)

2013-14

As in 2012-13, I taught G11FPM Foundations of Pure Mathematics in Autumn, and G14FTA Further Topics in Analysis in Spring. See below for some module-related links.

2012-13

Spring Semester

In Spring Semester I taught G14FTA Further Topics in Analysis for the second time. This is very similar to my former module G14FUN Functional Analysis, but includes a section on Measure Theory, and slightly less material on Functional Analysis.

Autumn Semester

In Autumn Semester I taught G11FPM Foundations of Pure Mathematics for the first time. This is the first introductory course on Pure Mathematics for honours mathematics students at the University of Nottingham.

I used the resident Lecture Capture systems in the the rooms to record videos of most of the classes. This is an Echo360 system, and it produces separate video streams for the data projector and footage of the lecturer. The Echo viewer can choose whether or not to hide or show the various video streams.

I also introduced a voting system using coloured voting cards into classes, in order to increase student participation, to allow students to learn from each other, and to give me an idea of how well the students were following the material.
